Growing up performing with her father, Tirzah Lemmens has been an aspiring musician as long as she can remember. In the spring of 2008, she was awarded a residency at the Contemporary Music Center (CMC), an invitation only artists' colony on the island of Martha's Vineyard, MA. Here, Tirzah spent four months of intense writing, performing, and recording alongside twenty other artists and music executives. During this time at the CMC she was able to work on developing her musical style and define her songwriting, as well as begin recording her EP. A Minnesota native and recent graduate of Northwestern College (St. Paul), Tirzah plans to continue to pursue her career as an artist based in the Twin Cities. She will soon be releasing her first EP, Flight, and has been invited back to the CMC for the spring semester to be an artist-in-residence. While there, she plans to focus on writing and recording her first full album (to be released summer 2009). Pure, ethereal vocals and thought-provoking lyrics, soaring over piano-driven folk/indie/soul and wrapped in a charming playfulness set Tirzah apart in today's vast array of female singer-songwriters. Her songs, about everything from life and love to God and people, will captivate you as much as her fresh, angelic voice.
